Born and raised in the Carolinas, Rod began his 50+ year HVAC career in the family business, learning every aspect of working in and operating an HVAC business. He brings a wealth of practical knowledge to each class, drawing from his extensive knowledge and experience in wholesale distribution, several years with a major manufacturer, and previously owning and operating his own HVAC and electrical contracting company. Rod pours that knowledge and passion into his training.

Rod has taught pre-licensing exam workshops for heating and fuel piping license candidates for over 30 years, and more recently the Technicians license and the Municipal employee’s contracting license. His teaching style is relaxed and easy to understand, making the material interesting and easy to remember.  Additional available classes include SP-PH workshops, Code update and review, and South Carolina pre-exam licensing workshops. As a member of the International Code Council (ICC) and Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), he is able to stay current with industry changes.

 

Rod also does private business consulting in NC, SC, VA, GA, and TN. This includes consulting for companies varying in size from $500k to $32million in annual revenue. Rod assists with the sale of businesses, service department development, partnership buy/sell arrangements, exit strategies, company training, and also offers private tutoring.
